Wagenfeld Porcelaine de Fürstenberg Ivoire Rouge et Or 123 pieces

Description

Art Deco dinner service by Wilhelm Wagenfeld Fürstenberg Porcelain Ivory, Red and Gold.

This model 0689 is very similar to the model 639 created by Wilhelm Wagenfeld (1900-1990) in 1934 and inspired by the Bauhaus spirit. Model 639 was awarded the Gold Medal at the 1937 Paris International Exhibition.
A table service from the 1930s that was both modern for its time and timeless, just as Wagenfeld intended. It is made of porcelain from the famous Fürstenberg factory in Germany, elegant and unadorned, chic but not ostentatious. Fürstenberg has been synonymous with quality since 1747.
Material, function and design come together to create a harmonious unit.
Wagenfeld designed the handles for the lids and jugs in the shape of a disc and linked them to the object with functional short handles of classic elegance.
‘Everything useful must be beautiful’.
The ivory porcelain is soberly decorated with a raspberry-red stripe and a gold fillet, or with large flat gold areas in agate on the handles and knobs. The combination of ivory, red and gold is very harmonious.
The shapes are pure, balanced, modern and unique. A chic and sober dinner service.
Everything is in good condition, except for the small plates, some of the colour has faded.
