Description
Art Deco Opalescent Glass ‘Birds’ Pendant Lamps by Boris Lacroix
Rare pendant lamps by Boris Lacroix, crafted from thick opalescent glass and featuring a design of five birds, circa 1925.
Interior architect and designer Boris Lacroix (1902–1984) favoured decorative refinement, fine materials, the accentuation of volumes, and harmony between functionality and aesthetics. Here we find a perfect example of this.
The elegant bowl is adorned with five birds in relief, their silhouettes rendered in opaque glass and their wings in transparent glass. The colours vary with the light and are more pronounced when illuminated, featuring a gradient of glacier blue, yellow and orange.
Signed by Boris Lacroix in the glass.
