1930’s Glass Base Kandem 1115 Table Lamp by Marianne Brandt for Kandem

Iconic Kandem Bauhaus table or desk lamp by Marianne Brandt. This are a rare model with a glass base, dating from the World Wide II period when iron was requisitioned for the war effort.

The light is adjustable at the base and at the shade in all directions.

The base is made of pressed glass lacquered underneath, it has a lot of losses but remains in its original condition and still has its original Kandem label.

The reflector is is in enamelled steel in a dark green color.

Marianne Brandt was a teacher of the Bauhaus school where she was in charge of the metal department before becoming the chief designer at Kandem.

Condition: losses to the paint on the stem and shade but no dent. The lacquer underneath the glass base is partly missing, see pictures.

Re-wired with a coton braided cable. E27 screw bulb holder, European plug.
